Marengo area OutReach Enterprises (M.O.R.E.) is a not-for-profit organization that organized in the year 2000 to take charge of the food pantry and related services for the needy individuals and families in the Marengo/Union area. In August of 2007 the M.O.R.E. Center opened for “business”. The new facility, located at 829 Greenlee Street, is a cutting edge example of how a community can work together to help its neighbors in need.
The M.O.R.E. Center provides space for multiple programs to operate at one time in one location. Prior to this, the food pantry operated out of a 13’ x 33’ converted gas station and other operations were from a church (see history page). Food was stored off-site and clothing was distributed in the parking lot. Our new facility is 5,000 square feet, more than eleven times larger than the old pantry.
Why is the M.O.R.E. Center a big deal? The answers can be found throughout our website. Check us out. We believe in what we are doing and we hope to gain your respect and support. No one ever expects to be down and out, but if it ever happens to you, you can count on us for emergency food, clothing, or financial advice and assistance. We can’t carry you, but we can offer a hand. That’s why our shirts say, “Let’s Do MORE.”
