Welcome to the M.O.R.E. Center
Our aim is to provide support for individuals needing food, clothing and emergency financial assistance. As you visit this site, we hope you gain an insight into what we do and will get the information you are seeking.
The M.O.R.E. Food Pantry continues to be open on Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and Thursdays 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. However, for the protection of everyone, visitors are allowed into our facility a few at a time to shop for food, while others wait in their cars for their turn to enter. Visitors may come each week. Our clothing and household items area is open Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. and Thursdays 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Emergency Financial Assistance is being done by phone and mail after an initial application is made at the Center.
The End of an Era
One of our three major programs is sadly coming to an end. Over the years, M.O.R.E. has been able to help families with utility bills and rent, if our help could assure them from being evicted or having a utility shut down. We worked with other agencies in bundling funds to assure efficiency and larger amounts of aid. In order to do this, we had the free services of a retired social worker, MaryAnn Kawall. After serving us for 25 years, she is facing health issues that are requiring her to step down. Because of MaryAnn, M.O.R.E. has been a one-of-a-kind organization in McHenry County, making M.O.R.E. a solid asset to needy families in Marengo and Union.
Over the years, M.O.R.E. has helped families with hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial aid. Now, our M.O.R.E. board is tasked with searching for a qualified social worker that is willing to put in countless hours in a non-paid position. At this point, that is not happening. Therefore, our Emergency Financial Assistance Program is halting to give the Board more time to decide how to permanently proceed.

Sullivan's Food Store has a convenient drop box inside, across from customer service.
